Abstract EN

The aim of the current research is to identify the extent to which generative thinking is possessed by biology teachers at the secondary stage, and to identify the differences in their generative thinking according to the variables of stage and degree.

The research identified biology teachers in secondary schools of the Diwaniyah Education Directorate, for the year 2019-2020, The sample size was (200) teachers, who were chosen randomly.

The two researchers prepared a generative thinking test, consisting of (34) items, to attain the research aims.

The coefficients of discrimination were measured, the ease and the correlation of the item score with the total score, and the efficacy of the dispersants was measured for the objective items.

After applying the test to the sample, the data was processed statistically.

The researchers used the equation of a single sample t-test to verify that biology teachers possess generative thinking.

The results showed that biology teachers possess generative thinking, The statistical method of binary variance analysis was used to verify the differences in generative thinking according to the degree and stage variables.

The results showed differences in favor of (the higher degree-and the high school), without interference between the degree and the stage.

In light of the results, the researchers recommended training biology teachers to develop their thinking skills and to be able to transfer them to their students, and the researchers suggested studying the generative thinking variable with independent variables such as (Posner's model and constructive strategies).
