Abstract EN

The presence of obstructing obstacles severely degradesthe efficiency of routing protocols in MANETs.

To mitigatethe effect of these obstructing obstacles, routing in MANETs isusually based on the a priori knowledge of the obstacle map.

In this paper, we investigate rather the dynamic and autonomicdetection of obstacles that might stand within the network.

Thisis accomplished using the enhanced cartography optimized linkstate routing CE-OLSR with no extra signaling overhead.

The evaluation of the performance of our proposed detectionscheme is accomplished through extensive simulations usingOMNET++.

Results clearly show the ability of our proposedscheme to accurately delimit the obstacle area with high coverageand efficient precision ratios.

Furthermore, we integrated the proposedscheme into CE-OLSR to make it capable of autonomouslydetecting and avoiding obstacles.

Simulation results show theeffectiveness of such an integrated protocol that provides thesame route validity as that of CE-OLSR-OA which is based onthe a priori knowledge of the obstructing obstacle map.
