Abstract EN

This paper tried to briefly explore the theoretical background of the concept of intrinsic motivation, specifically within the context of education.

It revisited the Greek terminologies related to intrinsic motivation, and then detailed its aspects within the modern framework of Self-Determination theory.

It finally gave exemplary researches conducted to show the extent to which these early terminologies, particularly eudaimonia, is associated with intrinsic motivation from the perspective of Self-Determination theory.
