The question of assessing the teaching of written expression and its learning in the various educational stages is one of the most complex issues in the teaching and learning processes given the effort and time it requires from teachers and learners alike.

This study then aims at assessing this issue through selecting the topics of written expression in the Arabic language textbooks in the fourth-year secondary school.

This study aims at ultimately answering the following problematic: Do written expression exercises directed at learners of this level assess their written expression skills correctly?
