Improved rubber composite for engine mounting by addition novolac

Abstract EN

This research deals with preparing and studying rubber composite materials used in automobile’s part which is’ called engine mounting.

In this work samples are prepared from original shock absorbers supplied by Osaka Company to study its mechanical properties as shown in table (1).

For comparison with the original samples, recipe N0.

1was prepared and then developed with reinforcement by novolac.

The mechanical properties compared with original properties.

Reinforcement technique-with copolymer matrix Elastomer (Nitrile butadiene rubber), and thermosetting resin (novolac) as follows : 1) Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) is added with 50-98 % as shock and vibration absorber for the new composite material.

2) Addition of novolac resin (0-48%) it gives a good mechanical and thermal properties which are the principal reason for its uses for the new composite material (engine mounting).

At 8 % elastic modulus, flexibility, deformation and impact are 2.19MPa, 13678 cycle, 2.4 mm, 63 % respectively
