The current research aimed to detected effect of interaction between the two types of navigation (hierarchical/ network) in e-books and cognitive style (simplicity-complexity) on the development of achievement and motivation for achievement in unit material and composition in the science course for the first graders at the preparatory stage.

It has been relyed on experimental design based on (2 × 2) was used to measure the effect of two independent variables, which are the two types of navigation (hierarchical/ network), and the cognitive style (Simplicity/ complexity) of the electronic books, on the dependent variables, which are academic achievement, and the motivation for achievement in the unit material and composition in the science in the science course for first graders at the preparatory stage.

Research tools consisted of achievement test, and a measure of motivation for achievement.

The research sample consisted of 70 students, and they were divided into four groups according to navigation and cognitive styles.

It has been used SPSS program to test hypotheses.

The search results explained that: there is an effect of e-book navigation type in favor of network navigation, and that it is better than hierarchical navigation to develop academic achievement and motivation for achievement; and that there is also an effect of the cognitive style in favor of students with a cognitive complexity style that they are better than those with a cognitive simplification method when developing academic achievement and the motivation for achievement; and the an effect of an interaction between the two navigation type and the cognitive style in e-books on the development of academic achievement, and the motivation for achievement in favor of the group with the cognitive complexity style that was studied in the type of network navigation in the e-book.
