Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the extent political, economic, social and cultural conditions affect journalistic activities in Gaza Strip.

It also aims to reveal aspects of journalism therein and its relation with societal reality.

It enumerates the papers and magazines issued in the Strip in the period 1948 - 1967.

The study revealed the said political, economic, social and cultural conditions have been closely related to journalism, the beginning of journalistic activities in the Strip were in the form of wall papers, statements, and bulletins for the ease of their preparation, distribution, and limited capabilities.

Several presses were established to issue 19 prints including bulletins, papers and magazines, most of which were not regular, limited in distribution age span, and weak in their editorial and technical capabilities, bearing in mind that “Akhbar Falasteen” paper has been the most successful Journalistic experience in Gaza Strip.

The paper found that journalism of the Strip faced several problems and difficulties, the most prominent among them were censorship, competition of Egyption papers, weak capabilities, political conflicts etc.

This led to limit its development, despite the fact that it fulfilled its national and combating role within its possible capabilities.
