Abstract EN

This study addresses the real existence of the evil eye and the Islamic beliefs that go with it.

It also looks into the fact that the evil eye, unless Allah Wills it, does not have any effect.

The study defines the concept of the evil eye, differentiates between envy and evil eye, and states that the possibility of getting adversely affected by evil eye has its roots in the Holy Quran and the tradition of the Prophet (peace be up him).

The study covers the effects of the evil eye and its causes.

The adverse effects of the evil eye are real and observable.

These effects are caused by being away from Allah, having weak faith, indulging in luxuries, not regularly saying dhikr (the remembrance of Allah), and not saying the specific dhikr when one sees what one likes.

The malevolent gaze could come from non-humans, too.

When it comes to being afraid of the adverse effects of the evil eye, it turns out that people in general fall in three categories: some people don’t believe in the presence of the evil eye and do not believe in its adverse effects.

Others hold a blind belief in the adverse effects of the evil eye and that they are doomed, no matter how hard they try to protect themselves.

The third group follows a middle course; they believe in the effects of the evil eye, and that every action has a cause, and that it afflicts people upon Allah’s Will.

These totally rely on Almighty God.

Finally, the correct belief is to have faith in both destiny and the adverse effects of the evil eye.

Nothing, good or bad, comes about unless Allah Wills it.

Protection from the adverse effects can be achieved through strong faith and the regular saying of the Prophetic dhikr.

The research methodologies I used have varied according to the nature of the topic being researched.

Therefore, I used the descriptive method to examine the issues related to the topic.

Then I used the analytic method when I showed the different opinions on the issue at hand, choosing the ones that are supported by the strongest evidence.

Finally, I used the argumentative method so that I can get reliable proof for what is being discussed.
