The aim of the current research is to examine the effect of using the generative learning model and thinking maps on the development of visual thinking skills in mathematics among preparatory stage students.

The research sample consisted of three equal groups (n= 30) from the first year of preparatory school.

The first experimental group studied the content of geometry using thinking maps strategy.

The second experimental group studied using the generative learning model.

and the third control group studied the same content in the traditional way used in schools.
