Abstract EN

The present paper tackles the relationship between Arabic and philosophy wherein Arabic shows its capacity and flexibility to express philosophical ideas a thing that originally began with the translation of the Greek philosophical texts into Arabic.

Therefore the paper expounds first the general characteristics of Arabic as much as philosophical thinking is concerned.

and refutes the opinions that view Arabic as incapable of expressing abstract thought.

Then it traces the first seeds of philosophy(wisdom) in Arabic i.e.< the linguistic origins of the philosophical terms and concepts translated into Arabic.

Finally it deals with Arab linguists who consider themselves as the owners of wisdom which was born in the heart of the environment of Arab Islamic culture.
