Abstract EN
In this article, the proposed microstrip patch antenna consisting of a ground plane, patch, and 1.6 mm thickness dielectric made from FR-4 material with dimensions (28 x 28) mm2, operated at 3 GHz, using the metasurface technology to enhance the gain of this antenna.
The metasurface is based on a reconfigurable low-frequency antenna that is commonly used in wireless and satellite communications.
The proposed antenna has been tested in two ways First, the surface unit cells (4×4) are placed at ground level by applying a combination of two L-shaped with a C-shaped center.
Second, the surface unit cells are placed on the patch, and the gain was enhanced in each case.
The designed superstructure of the metasurface has the property of an epsilon negative surface (ENG).
The inclusion of the metasurface on the ground plane of the microstrip antenna improved the gain from 6.5 dB to 11.824 dB at 3 GHz, and when the metasurface was placed on the patch, the gain was improved to 8.5269 dB.
Antenna parameters such as VSWR, gain, group delay, and input reflection coefficient were In this article, the proposed microstrip patch antenna consisting of a ground plane, patch, and 1.6 mm thickness dielectric made from FR-4 material with dimensions (28 x 28) mm2, operated at 3 GHz, using the metasurface technology to enhance the gain of this antenna.
