Abstract EN

The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs in emergency departments of government hospitals in the Gaza Strip using a descriptive analytical method.

The study applied qualitative research using a semi-structured interview tool to collect data, in which 17 interviews were held for supervisors of doctors and nurses in seven hospitals distributed in various governorates of the Gaza Strip.

The data were analyzed using frequencies and percentages.

The results showed that the funded organization is the sponsor, and the implementer of the training program from its beginning till the end.

The results also showed that the funded organization focuses on the theoretical side more than the practical in its training programs.

In addition, it found that some training programs funded by NGOs contributed to improving the quality of health services, but not to the extent required, because the programs were effective on the permanent nursing staff in emergency departments, but were not feasible for the doctors because they are not permanent in the emergency departments.

The study showed that one of the most important difficulties facing the effectiveness of training programs is the shortage of nursing staff, the shortage of modern high-quality devices, and the lack of financial and moral incentives for the trainees to motivate them towards improving their performance at work.

The study reached several recommendations, the most important of which are: Promoting the role of MoH in the participation of the funded organization in the stages of the training process from its beginning till the end, so that become the vision, methodology and joint goals of the training programs.

Providing enough nursing staff in the emergency departments, recruiting permanent ER specialist doctors.

Also, the need to focus more on the practical side than the theoretical side by the funded organization where it is preferable that the training should be held on job training within appropriate conditions.
