The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of teaching according to the integration of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) in the development of mathematical achievement and thinking among eighth grade students compared to the traditional method.
Mathematical achievement and thinking tests were developed and administered to 34 students (16 in experimental group, 17 in control) before and after the experiment, The results of the study revealed that there were significant statistical differences (α=0.05) in the average means of students' responses on both tests attributed to the method of teaching in favour of the experimental group.
In the light of the results, the researcher recommended introducing mathematics teachers to STEAM and the mechanisms of employing it in mathematics teaching
