Abstract EN

The present study aims at analyzing the reading activities in pupil's book of action pack 4 and pupil's book of better English now 4 to determine the extent to which these activities meet the reading specific outcomes in the general guidelines and general and specific outcomes for English language in Jordan of 2006.

moreover, this study aims at analyzing the reading texts in pupil's book of action pack 4 and pupil's book of better English now 4 to determine the extent to which these reading texts are authentic.

frequencies and percentages are used to present the results of the questions of the study.

the findings of the analysis reveal that reading activities in pupil's book of action pack4 respond to the specific outcomes unlike those in the pupil's book of better English now 4.

the findings of the analysis also reveal that the reading texts of the pupil's book of action pack 4 and pupil's book of better English now 4 have a high degree of authenticity.

such focus on authentic reading texts highlights the significance of the reading skill in building the communicative competence of the Jordanian students.
