The purpose was to identify the role of universities in Saudi Arabia in combating extremism from viewpoints of the faculties.
The researchers designed a 30-item questionnaire covering four domains and was administered to a sample of (264) faculty members selected by the random convenience sampling method.
Results revealed high significance of the role of universities in Saudi Arabia in extremism combating efforts as perceived by the faculties, where the political domain was placed first, then the academic domain was placed secondly and the social domain was ranked lastly.
Results showed statistically significant differences among subject estimates on the study domains attributed to gender in favor of males; and there were statistically significant differences attributed to faculty in favor of humanistic faculties.
