The study tackled the term used extensively by al-hafiz al-Zahabi in his works of anthropology, the study aimed at inducing the narrators described by al-hafiz al-Zahabi in al-Mizan as " unknown", and their number (680) six hundred and eighty narrators and the study concluded that the term "unknown", by al-hafiz al-Zahabi indicates the ignorance of the narrator described, individual or case ignorance or both, as the study concluded that this term is undependable generally for all the described narrators in al-Mizan.

the study is directed to shed the light on the narrators whom described by al-hafiz al-Zahabi as "unknown", and to the expansion of the translation of their works, al-hafiz al-Zahabi may describe some narrators with the term "unknown", while being known as reliable among other critics.
