Abstract EN

The current research aimed to develop a programming curriculum in the light of creative computing and to investigate its effectiveness in developing computational thinking practices among seventh-grade students.

The research relied to design a list of creative computing standards and then analyze the Palestinian programming curriculum and compare it with the creative computing curriculum of the "Scratch" programming language, evaluate it, and develop the Palestinian curriculum in the light of creative computing.

A teacher’s guide and a student’s workbook were also prepared.

In addition to designing a tool for evaluating computational thinking practices (a note card) to measure the effectiveness of the developed curriculum.

The research used the experimental approach for two groups (experimental and control) with (46) students in each group from Abu Tammam Preparatory School in North Gaza.

The results revealed a high effectiveness of the developed curriculum (2.344) according to Blake's modified gain ratio.

The research recommended adopting the developed curriculum, adopting the culture of creative computing to develop computational thinking practices, establishing centers for creative computing in Palestinian universities, integrating computational thinking practices for all academic subjects, and qualifying teachers in computational thinking practices.
