The use of e-learning during covid-19 pandemic by iraqi secondary school students : potential and challenges

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in Iraq, educational activities were forced to close, resulting in an unanticipated shift away from traditional learning toward a system that focuses solely on digital teaching and learning.

In this situation, the present study aimes to investigate the potential and challenges associated with the use of e-learning in Iraqi secondary schools from the perspective of Iraqi students during the pandemic of COVID 19.

A total of (30) questionnaire items about advantages and disadvantages of e-learning were distributed online to students in secondary schools in Iraq.

100 completed questionnaires were collected.

The questionnaire items include closed-ended questions in which students were asked to provide their agreement or disagreement on the advantages of e-learning in Iraq.

In addition, they were asked to identify the challenges facing the use of e-learning systems in Iraqi secondary schools.

The results shown that students are aware of the benefits of e-learning for their studies, but they face challenges and problems, according to the findings.

Due to the numerous issues that students encounter when attending online learning, students still prefer face to face or classroom education.

Due to, major challenges associated with the general infrastructure such as lack of the electricity, access to the internet, bad Internet connection, high cost of the Internet and the support provided by secondary schools.
