Reading is a fairly complex cognitive activity which goes beyond the decoding of graphic signs and which involves the construction of meaning from complex physical and cognitive operations.
It is the center around which all school activities revolve, hence the importance educationalists place on it.
In the primary cycle, its teaching is based on the school textbook, particularly in French class.
A question arises sharply: What is the contribution of the school textbook to learning to read in French in the primary cycle? We hypothesize that this educational tool can be both a guide for the young learner-reader but also an adjunct to teachers.
The results of our reflection allow us to target some contributions of the manual ranging from its micro-structure to its macro-structure.

La lecture représente une activité cognitive assez complexe qui va au-delà du décodage de signes graphiques et qui implique une construction de sens à partir d'opérations physiques et cognitives complexes.
Elle constitue le centre autour duquel gravitent toutes les activités scolaires d'où l'importance que les didacticiens lui accordent.
Au cycle primaire son enseignement repose sur le manuel scolaire notamment en classe de français.
Une question se pose à nous avec acuité: Quel est l'apport du manuel scolaire dans l'apprentissage de la lecture en français au cycle primaire? Nous formulons l'hypothèse que cet outil pédagogique peut être à la fois un guide du jeune apprenti-lecteur mais, également un adjuvant des enseignants.
Les résultats de notre réflexion nous permettent de cibler quelques apports du manuel allant de sa micro-structure à sa macro-structure.
