Abstract EN

The current research aimed at identifying the effectiveness of using the learning by modeling strategy in developing spatial awareness and enjoyment of learning among a sample of mentally- impaired sixth grade pupils.

To verify that aim, the researcher prepared a list of spatial awareness dimensions that included the dimensions of (recognizing shapes and places - recognizing locations of places - recognizing directions of Places –recognizing the distance between places - perceiving the relationship between places).

A teacher's guide was designed in the light of that list for the purpose of teaching the social studies course for that class.

An activity booklet for the pupils was prepared as well, where the researcher considered the availability of activities and visual schemes that enable pupils to recognize the nature of the place where they live.

The researcher used a test of spatial awareness and an enjoyment of learning scale which included the dimensions of (enjoying the implementation of activities - enjoying solving homework - enjoying studying the social studies course).

The instruments of the research were administered to both the experimental and control groups before and after the treatment.

The results were as follows: 1- The effectiveness of the learning by modeling strategy in developing the spatial awareness of the mentally- impaired sixth graders of the primary stage.

2- The effectiveness of the learning by modeling strategy in developing the enjoyment of learning among the mentally- impaired sixth graders of the primary stage.
