Abstract EN

This study aimed to find out the extent of inclusion of speaking skills related to ideas and meanings in the “Lughati Al-Khalidah” textbooks in the Intermediate stage from the point of view of the male and female Arabic language teachers and supervisors at Intermediate Stage in the General Department of Education in Jazan Region.

The researchers utilized the descriptive survey method through a questionnaire, and the study sample consisted of (194) male and female teachers and supervisors of the Arabic language.

The findings showed that the extent of inclusion of speaking skills related to ideas and meanings from the point of view of Arabic language teachers and supervisors was large generally, and the level of inclusion of speaking main skills related to meaning and ideas was “large" for all the main skills: planning to speak, preface and introduction, arranging and organizing ideas, supporting the ideas of the speaking topic with evidence, critical thinking during speaking, asking and answering questions during speaking, speaking in a variety of topics areas, and concluding speaking.

The results also showed that, the main speaking skill: "arranging and organizing ideas" was in the first rank in the level of inclusion, while in the last rank was the skill: "critical thinking while speaking".

The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences in the teachers and supervisors' point of view of the inclusion of speaking skills related to ideas and meanings due to the variables: gender, number of training courses, and teaching classes, and there were no statistically significant differences attributed to the variables: educational profession, or years of experience in teaching
