Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the nature of the column in the Palestinian party newspapers, and the extent to which the "Alresalah and Al-Estqlal" newspapers adhere to the technical characteristics and scientific rules that should be taken into consideration in writing columns .

This descriptive study uses two methods, which are the survey method through the use of content analysis, and the method of studying mutual relations through using methodological comparison.

The study tools were based on the content analysis form.

The study sample included Alresalah and Al-Estqlal newspapers between 1 January 2017 and 5 July 2018, and the columns were selected through the comprehensive inventory method, with the two researchers relied on the Agenda Setting Theory .

The study’s most important findings that the predominant feature in the study’s newspapers was the presence of political subjects at (76%), followed by military subjects (7.4%).

The columns dealing with current affairs were more prevalent than other column types at (59%), followed by public affairs columns at (20.6%), then vitriol and sarcasm columns at (18.2%).

The constancy of the writer (the column’s writer, title and date) was categorical in both newspapers at (100%), while the constancy of the column’s position came at a lesser degree at (88.6%), And the positive trend for vertical articles appeared in the study newspapers by (53.8%), followed by the negative trend with (23.8%), then the neutral trend with (17.5%).
