Abstract EN

This study aimed to know the proficiency extent of Arabic language teachers at the secondary stage to speak classical Arabic skills from the point of view of educational supervisors and teachers.

the study sample consisted of all Arabic language supervisors and teachers in Jeddah governorate, where the number of supervisors is (33) supervisors, and the number of Arabic language teachers at the secondary level is (519) teachers.

the present study relied on the descriptive analytical approach, on a sample consisting of (29 supervisors and 111 teachers).

to verify the study's objectives, the researcher prepared a list of the classical Arabic speaking skills necessary for teachers of the Arabic language, then turned it into a questionnaire, and it was presented to a group of specialists to verify its sincerity, then its stability was calculated using the alpha Cronbach laboratories.

the required statistical treatments were conducted, and one of the most prominent results of the study was that the overall average of mastery was (3.34) and a relative weight (66.8%), and these values confirm that there is an intermediate degree of classical Arabic speaking skills for Arabic language teachers at the secondary level, and that is from the point of view of the sample members including the educational supervisors and teachers.

the third axis: “the semantic aspect” occupied the first rank among classical Arabic speaking skills, with an arithmetic average of (3.48) and a relative weight of (69.6%) with a great degree of mastery, while the first axis: “the phonetics aspect” came at the second level with an arithmetic average of (3.30) with a relative weight of (66.0%) with an average degree of mastery.

the second axis : "linguistic aspect" came in the third position among speaking skills with an arithmetic average of (3.24) and a relative weight of (64.8%) with an average degree of mastery, from the point of view of the sample individuals from educational supervisors and teachers.

the study recommended several recommendations, the most prominent of which are: holding training courses to develop the skills of Arabic language teachers at the secondary level in classical Arabic speaking skills in its three aspects.
