Abstract EN

The present study aims to determine the translation strategies of neologisms in ironic political novels from Arabic to English to investigate the way the translator deals with these words in a sarcastic ironical context.

the researcher seeks to know to what extent the translator was able to maintain the meaning of the original text and whether the reader of the translated text got the same impact as the reader of the original text.

the results showed that the spirit of irony was not preserved in several instances, due to the fact that there is no specific method of creating neologisms nor there are equivalents for neologisms in the target language.

he paper highlights two novels from satirical English literature with their translations: George Orwell’s 1984, the translations of elHareth elNabhan and Aldous Huxley’s brave new world, the translations of elSherif Khater and Maroua Sami.
