Abstract EN

This research is based on a study of the traceable hadith to the prophets (hadith marfu’) mentioned in the reasons for the revelation of Almighty Allah’s saying: (A male fornicator would only marry a female fornicator or idolatress...) [An- Nur: 3], an explanatory study; I have studied the hadiths relating to the verse from two perspective, namely: • the hadith itself, relating to the chain of transmission of the hadith (Isnad) and defects (I’lal) that are about the hadiths.

• Studying the external clues that support the defects(ta’leel) of the hadith.

And I concluded that there was no proven traceable hadith to the prophet concerning the reason for the revelation of the verse and that the story of Mirthad bin Abi Mirthad on this subject is defective and cannot be relied upon.

And the second hadith on the subject has in its unknown relators and its defect is obvious.

Then, the external clues point to the defects of the hadith because a number of the predecessors (salaf) twist it from its apparent meaning.

And nor do I come across any of the salafs made mention of hadith of Mirthad.
