Abstract EN

This study examines the types of social values included in the educational curricula after the new reforms made by the Ministry of National Education in the elementary education stage in Algeria, and more specifically the Arabic language textbooks for the primary education stage.

Through the field study and an analytical reading of the documents approved by the Ministry of National Education, as we relied in this study on the descriptive approach and the content analysis tool.

The results showed that there is a convergence between the prevailing social values in Algerian society and the values set by the Ministry of National Education.

However, the values contained in the books are insufficient to qualify this individual to cherish his identity and to be a more effective and integrated individual in society
