Abstract EN

It is indisputable that the translation of a literary text is never a final one for the reason that literature requires an interpretation that is certainly different from a reader to another.

This personal interpretation of any literary work incites the translator as first reader to reinterpret a novel, a poem or even a theatre play in another language.

Furthermore, while retranslating a literary text, this translator finds his passion again by looking for the missed sense in previous translation.

Thus and assuming that any retranslation is a rediscovery of an outdated text, we attempt in this paper to reveal the real reasons behind retranslating literature through the example of the French translator Josée Kamoun and her retranslation of the George Orwell’s novel, and we try to answer to the following questions: why retranslating an already translated work ? Is the translator aiming at reinterpreting a text or at renewing his passion ?

Abstract FRE

---------------------------------------------------It is indisputable that the translation of a literary text is never a final one for the reason that literature requires an interpretation that is certainly different from a reader to another.
