At every moment of the mathematical activity, both teacher and learner use personal aspects related to the studied concept, he spontaneously brings up mental images based on intuition even if this concept is abstract.

this may contradict the mathematical definition which is built by logical rules.

this conflict results because both spontaneous conceptions and abstract definitions are simultaneously components of the same concept within the learner's mind.

in this study, we aim to identify the conceptual structure of learners; in particular, to understand the way of the concept formation in their minds, we also seek to determine the impact of this on the teaching and learning processes.
