Over the present time there is a spread of technology in every aspect of life, which increases the ability to transfer and get tasks done successfully.
organizations today are operating in a massive, digitally connected world.
producing and acquiring knowledge has a great importance at present time, so the success of institutions highly depends on producing and using information successfully.
the increased use and production of knowledge places organizations into a necessary digital transformation.
thus, digital transformation in higher education is seen as inevitable, as higher education institutions need to make informed decisions, understand their customers, service delivery, product development, asset utilization or other operational areas, and at times make quick decisions to streamline operations.
therefore, digital education has become an inevitable necessity for the transition towards digitization, as learning processes are no longer which only literacy is acquired, but there are a new set of twenty-first century skills that involve the necessary digital literacy techniques, represented in the knowledge and capabilities for individuals to be knowledgeable digitally.
hence, this study aimed to identify the intellectual framework of digital transformation, its concept, objectives, requirements, challenges, and mechanisms for promoting the transformation towards digitization in higher education.
