After the natural sciences reached impressive achievements following their liberation from Church authority and embracing the scientific method, other sciences rushed to emulate them in the hope of achieving the same results.

The humanities are in crisis.

In the light of this conflict, hermeneutics emerged as a method of understanding capable of objectively studying the human sciences, because the human phenomenon needs interpretation, unlike the natural sciences, which require interpretation.
