English Abstract
Recently, the term hybrid energy has spread to many industries and technologies, it has contributed in reducing fuel depletion and emissions by combining two or more multiple energy sources.
It requires a smart system that capable of managing and distributing that energy effectively and efficiently.
In this research, the energy management system in hybrid vehicles has been simulated and improved by Simcenter amesim software in order to study the effect of changing the components size of the vehicle on the performance of the vehicle, which in turn affects the effectiveness of the energy management system.
The simulation results obtained are analyzed using Minitab software to determine the most influential parameters on both the total fuel consumption and emissions in addition to other response variables discussed, in that section, it was found that the type of vehicle (power split) was the best in terms of performance and total fuel consumption.
Based on that, the Genetic algorithm (GA) and non-linear programming by quadratic lagrangian algorithm (NLPQL) was applied to that type to find out which algorithm is better in determining the optimal sizing of the components which in turn works to improve and develop the energy management system to achieve the main goal of it which is to drive the vehicle with high efficiency and lower fuel consumption.
The results proved that the GA algorithm is the best in choosing those parameters that contributed to achieving an optimal management system that in turn reduced the total fuel consumption by (10%) and the rate of gas depletion by (9.85 %) while ensuring a longer battery life.
