The contemporary world has witnessed a great interest in globalization and its repercussions on the institutions of higher education.

globalization has imposed a set of repercussions in the sphere of politics, economics, society and culture.

hence this research is an attempt to know the notion of globalization, its effects on higher education and its institutions respond to the power of globalization.

in this work, the researcher has adopted the analytical descriptive method to achieve the goals.

the research has come up with a number of results, the most important of which is that there is no a definite definition for globalization because of the large number of scholars and researchers whose specializations are different; besides, globalization has negative and positive aspects that affected and are still affecting the social structure in general and the institutions of higher education in particular considering the economic, social, political and educational aspects within.

in addition to that, the university professor is considered a vital element in the time of globalization considering the scientific achievements s / he offers which contribute to the service and development of society.
