Abstract EN

This research aimed at measuring effectiveness of using the REACT strategy in teaching rhetoric for developing imaginative thinking skills among first-grade secondary school students.

the research problem was identified in the weakness of the imaginative thinking skills among secondary school students.

the research relied on both the descriptive and analytical approaches in surveying previous studies and presenting the theoretical framework, as well as preparing the research tools.

in addition, the experimental method was employed in conducting the experiment.

the research sample was divided into two groups : one to be an experimental group, which is consisted of number (40) female students, and the other to be a control group which is consisted of (40) female student.

the researcher prepared the two necessary learning materials for the strategy, and for measuring the strategy effectiveness in developing the imaginative thinking skills, as well as constructing a test for measuring these skills.

the research tool was pre-administered to the experimental and control groups, then the target rhetorical themes were taught to the students of the experimental group using the REACT strategy, while the control group students studied the same rhetorical themes in the usual way, then the tool was re-applied to the two groups in a post application.

the results were found and processed statistically.

the results confirmed the effectiveness of the REACT strategy in developing the imaginative thinking skills of the students, and accordingly the research presented a set of recommendations and suggestions based on the results reached.
