Abstract EN

This study aimed at shedding the light on the topic of psychological contract, its types, and characteristics.

In addition, it aimed at tackling the main emotional and behavioral consequences resulted from the violation of psychological contract which affect employees’ performance and productivity.

The study population consists of all employees working at the Palestinian universities in the Gaza Strip namely; Islamic University of Gaza, Al-Azhar University, Al-Aqsa University, Al-Quds Open University and University of Palestine as well.

It is noted that the number of employees working at these universities is amounted to 2874 employees form several levels “academic, administrative and service.” The researcher distributed 450 questionnaires on a randomized stratified sample according to the university at the first stage, and job title at the second stage.

The researcher retrieved 389 questionnaires represented by 86.4% of the total number of questionnaires.

To achieve the objective of this study, the researcher used the analytical descriptive approach which aims at describing the phenomenon under the study, analyze its data, identifying the relationship among its components, views, processes, and impact.

The study results conclude the following: there is moderate satisfaction among employees in the Palestinian universities regarding the commitment of these universities to the psychological contract.

The fulfillment of these universities with respect to their commitment of job’s content is rated first, followed by the fulfillment of these universities with respect to the organizational commitment.

Finally, the groups’ fulfillment with respect to the commitment of job environment is rated third.

In a way of conclusion, the universities’ obligation of psychological contract has a considerable effect on employee’s productivity.
