Abstract EN

Addressing the issue of Arab Literary Criticism discourse in its cognitive origins, intellectual and methodological transformations is one of the most important issues of meta-criticism, as it is a course of follow-up on the development of critical discourses and their achievements in understanding literary writings.

If contemporary Arab criticism is based on European curricula with Western philosophical grounds, represented by European literary discourses, and one of the results of the European literature survey, working to extract the most important characteristics of that discourse in its origin and its transformations requires special knowledge and a long expertise that enables understanding the various aspects surrounding it and its requirements.

The issue of taking into account cognitive contexts, whether national or foreign, in dealing with literature through study and examination, may be considered the most important issues to be taken into consideration in the practice of critics.

The starting point of this study are following questions: How important are cognitive contexts - which are meant to be issues of the curriculum influenced by forms of knowledge - in understanding literature? Have they been taken into account in contemporary Arab Literary criticism practice?.
