This paper actively incorporates leading theory surrounding the process of interpretation in order to make more evident interpretation strategies and the mental processes taking place in the mind of an interpreter.

The paper operates on the premise that much can be learned about interpreting by comparing a source discourse to its transcribed interpretation and then to a translated version.

Using this step-by-step process, it becomes clear that the interpreter prioritizes, anticipates and relies to a fair degree up on determining SL text typology, while in the process of reformulating SL discourse.

Through analysis of this nature, theory becomes more firmly rooted in practice and the process of interpretation may be understood as a process composed of stages.
