Abstract EN

In this study, stranding and pied piping of prepositions are tackled.

Two types of grammatical structures are used; Wh-questions and relative clauses structures.

Pied piping structures and stranded structures are analysed according to the Markedness Differential Hypothesis. The analysis shows the effect of markednss in translating the target language (TL) into (NL) the native language i.e.

the source language (SL).

It also explores the similarities and differences, in addition to, the ease and difficulty in translating structures from English into Arabic.
