الهدف من البحث : هو المقارنة بين نتائج طريقة (CAUP) Coblation Assisted Uvulopalatoplasty و نتائج الطريقة التقليدية Coblation Technique في علاج الشخير.
النتائج : تم إجراء طريقة CAUP على تسعة مرضى ستة رجال و ثلاث سيدات.
و تم مقارنة النتائج بمجموعة أخرى أجريت عليها طريقة Standard Coblation.
و نتيجة الاستفتاء الذي قيم ب (SSI) Snoring Symptoms Inventory هو حدوث هبوط في نسبة الشخير للمرضى الذين أجريت عليهم طريقة CAUP.
و كان متوسط هذا الهبوط 21.7 نقطة, و (متوسط الانحراف (-, +) 24.81).
و في 66 % من الحالات حدث انخفاض ملحوظ لأكثر من 15 نقطة فيSSI و ذلك مؤكدا و مثبتا إحصائيا (p = 0.022).
و كانت نسبة تأثير التكنيك الجديد 1.67 درجة و هذا أضاف تأثيراً كبيراً مقارنة بالطريقة التقليدية.
الخلاصة : قد يكون التكنيك الجديد (CAUP) أفضل من الطريقة التقليدية في علاج الشخير.
و لذلك نوصي بعمل دراسة على عدد أكبر من المرضى.
Abstract EN
Background / Am : to compare the outcomes of a Collation Assisted Uvulae la to pasty (CAUP) with standard Collation techniques, in the treatment of simple snoring.
Method : Prospective observational non-randomized cohort study.
Results : 9 patients (6 men, 3 women) underwent CAUP and completed follow-up.
The results were compared with a group treated with standard Collation.
The mean reduction in the Snoring Symptoms Inventory (SSI) was 21.7 (standard deviation + 24.81).
Approximately 66 % achieved a significant fall in SSI (> 15 points) which was significantly more than standard techniques (p = 0.022).
The effect size was 1.67 for the new collation technique which represents a large impact and is larger than previously calculated for standard Collation or Laser Assisted Uvulopalatoplasty (LAUP).
Conclusions : CAUP may be superior to standard collation techniques and for simple snoring.
A larger study is required.
