Human resource information systems (HRIS) have the potential to be the mechanism through which organizations can monitor and deploy their personnel in order to obtain and sustain a competitive advantage.

This thesis investigates the extent of using human resource information systems (HRIS) in strategic human resources planning (SHRP) at Jordanian mobile companies.

The Study has presented an analysis of the application and implementation of human resource information systems in Jordanian Mobile Companies and their link with strategic human resources planning and also determined the importance of using HRIS in strategic human resource planning.

The results of the study (152) respondents at the four Jordanian Mobile Companies revealed that HRIS are largely used in strategic human resources planning at these companies.

Also strategic human resources planners recognize the importance of using human resource information systems in their strategic human resources planning.

At the same time the respondents at the four mobile companies believe that there are several benefits of using HRIS in strategic human resources planning.

They also identified several perceived obstacles limiting the use of HRIS more effectively in strategic human resources planning at their companies.
