English Abstract
-A new series of 2-alkyl/arylamino-6-chlorothieno[3,2-e]-1,3-thiazin-3-one (48a-c) derivatives were synthesized by intramolecular cyclization reaction of the deprotonated 2,5-dichloro-N-(alkyl/arylaminocarbonothioyl)thiophene-3-carboxamides (47a-d) upon heating.
The latter compounds were prepared via interaction of the deprotonated 2,5-dichloro-3-thiophenecarbonylamide (46) with alky/arylisothiocyanates.
The starting carboxylic acid amide were prepared by utilizing 2,5-dichlorothiophene-3-carboxylic acid chloride (42).
The latter acid chloride was prepared according to the reported procedure that involves the reaction of 2,5-dichlorothiophene (39) with acetyl chloride in carbon disulfide in the presence of aluminum trichloride, followed by treatment of the resulting 3-acetyl-2,5-dichlorothiophene (40) with sodium hypochlorite solution followed by acidification.
The acid was converted into 2,5-dichlorothiophene-3-carbonyl chloride (42) upon interaction with thionyl chloride . The structures of these new bicyclic derivatives and their acyclic precursors are based on micro analytical and spectral (IR, MS, and NMR) data.
