يتناول هذا المقال واحدا من أهم المقومات الحضارية ألا و هو تحكم الفرد و قدرته على فعل القراءة و الكتابة.
و هو يغطي مساحة زمنية ممتدة من أيام التواجد الروماني في انجلترا إلى نهاية القرن التاسع عشر، و ذلك من أجل شرح و تحليل جانب نراه مهما و أساسيا في فهم التاريخ الاجتماعي لإنجلترا، و مساهمة منا في توسيع المفاهيم نركز على التغيرات التي طرأت على معنى قدرة الفرد على القراءة و الكتابة، و كذلك انتشارها في عموم الطبقات الاجتماعية.
Abstract EN
This article looks at literacy in England from Roman times to the close of the nineteenth century.
By exploring the changing significance of literacy and its spread among the different social classes, the article is intended to offer a contribution to a better understanding of the impact of literacy on the unfolding of the social history of England.
