يركز هذا البحث على مفاهيم الثيمة و الريمة كمصدر لتنظيم الجملة كرسالة في الجمل الفرعية الإنكليزية و العربية.
و ينطلق البحث من مفهوم الثيمة لهاليداي (1994) كعنصر يقع في بداية الجملة الإنكليزية.
و يهدف البحث إلى إثبات إمكانية تمثيل نحو أية لغة بشبكة كبيرة جدا من الأنظمة، و تنظيم الخيارات في علاقات هرمية.
كما يهدف إلى تسليط الضوء على نقاط التشابه و الاختلاف في الجمل الإنكليزية و العربية قدر تعمق الأمر بنظام الثيمة.
و قد توصل الباحثان إلى استنتاج مفاده أن بعض الجمل العربية الفرعية تختلف عن الإنكليزية فيما يتعلق بالتبئير.
كما تبين بأن الثيمة البؤرة تكون ظاهرية في اللغة الإنكليزية بينما تكون ضمنية أحياناً في اللغة العربية.
