English Abstract

-This study aims at investigating problems of listening comprehension skills encountered by students of English language inside or outside the classroom, in Port Sudan province, the Red Sea State.

The researcher has chosen 60 subjects of the third grade secondary level.

The study is composed of five chapters, which adopted the descriptive analytical method.

The data was collected by means of a test and a questionnaire to test the hypotheses of the research.

The data was analyzed by (SPSS).

The tools of collecting and analyzing were found to be reliable and valid.

The analysis of the data shows the following variables: linguistic, conceptual, listening comprehension skills and oral communication variables that hinder effective comprehension.

Finally, the researcher has discussed his findings and drawn conclusions shown implications and suggestion for some recommendations: 1- To make a further researches in the field of listening comprehension is necessary to investigate the effects of listening comprehension with numerous students and more extensive test. 2- To design an effective method teaching listening skill and speaking skill, should be followed by teacher. 3- The student should be advised to practice listening more and more.

To make listening comprehension studies for finding out of the most effective of teaching method. b.

The students should be made to listen for different current vocabularies and allow them to write synonyms, antonyms and practice translation. c.

the finding of this study can be used by English teachers as a guide to improve listening comprehension.
