English Abstract

The study aims at recognizing the phonological and pronunciation problems that Arab students faced, The second major issue at investigation the actual differences betueen Ll(Arabic)and L2 (English) It also tries to canpare the sound systems of two languages so as to determine the areas of similarities and differences which are the chief source of difficulties in learning the target language.

The reseach questions were: what are the actual difficulties that faced Arab leaners in producing some saunds? what can teacher do to help Arab leaners to overec me these difficulties? and what are the differences between Engi f i and Arabic sound systems, the researcher hypothesized that phonological differences between LI and L2 cause difficulties for the Arab learners in mastering English prenunctation and there are some sound that are totally absent in Arabic.The method of the research is surveying, and dat? is collecting through qustionnaire and it comes out with these finding :Phnological differences between LI and L2 that cause difficulties for the Arab learners in mastering English, pronweiation.

recommendations of the study ar: The teacher is a source of correct pronunciation.

An experienced well trained teachers will help the students to pronounce correctly .
