English Abstract

Thirty three soil bacterial isolates were obtained from Al-Karak–Ainesarah.

The crude extract of nine strains that showed antibacterial activity were screened for their antibacterial activity against six types of pathogenic microorganisms (Bacillussubtilis, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Micrococcus luteus, Enterobacteraerugenes, Psedomonusaeroiginosa).

One of these isolated (D12) was shown to be the most effective strain.

Bacterial isolate named D12 was identified as Arcanobacteriumpyogenesby using RAPID CB plus kit.

Optimization of the conditions for production of bioactive extract was performed.

The crude extract of A.

pyogenes D12 has slight antibacterial activity against Micrococcus luteus whereas other gram positive and negative ones showed resistancy toward this extracts.

The crude extract of this bacterial isolate was subjected to partial purification by Thin layer chromatography. The bioactivity of the partially purified compounds was tested by agar diffusion assay and showed antimicrobial activity generally for all fractions but in similar manar to that of the crude .
