English Abstract

This study investigates the effect of cooperative learning approach represented by the use of the Jigsaw approach in learning English skills (listening , speaking , reading and writing).

The sample of the study consists of 74 10th grade students (37 male and 37 female) from al–Mazar Directorate of Education.

The researcher has conducted a pre–test with fifty items to measure the students achievements, and to reach to two reasonable groups.

After applying the Conventional method on the control group, and the Jigsaw method on the experimental group, A post test with fifty items was conducted to investigate the influences of the Jigsaw approach on students achievements .

The post test was similar to the pr-test only in its objectives.

After correcting the students papers, and analyzing the inferences the following results were reached : 1 – There were statistically significant differences between students who were taught by using the indoctrination method, and students who were taught by using the Jigsaw method, attribute to method variable.

2 – There were significant differences between the trend of students who were taught by the Jigsaw method, and those who were taught by conventional method attribute to sex variable.
