English Abstract

This study aims at investigating the effect of using an integrative grammar and multiple intelligences integrative grammar programs on the achievement of Jordanian first secondary students in Madaba Educational Directorate for the academic year 2004 - 2005 .

This study attempts to answer the following questions:- 1-Is there a difference in grammar achievement due to the use of the three different approaches : integrative grammar , MI Integrative grammar and the conventional grammar? 2-What are the characteristics of the integrative grammar and the MI integrative grammar teaching approaches of the first secondary grade in English ? The sample of the study consisted of 75 first secondary grade students from Al Natafa Secondary school .

A 12 week integrative grammar and MI integrative programs were built by the researcher for the experimental groups consisting of 20 lessons .

The tools of the study were as follows (1) An achievement English language pre and post test to measure the effect of the program .

(2) Multiple intelligences inventory modified by the researcher.

Results of the study showed significant improvement in students achievement in grammar due to the use of the integrative grammar and the MI integrative grammar .In light of the findings of the study ,it is recommended that teachers attempt to vary their ways of teaching .
