This article present a comparative study between two control strategies, a classical PID regulator, and a robust H2controller based on LQG control with KALMAN filter appliedon automatic excitation controlofpowerful synchronous generators,toimprove transientstabilityanditsrobustness ofasinglemachine-infinite bus system (SMIB).
The computer simulationresults have provedthe efficiencyand robustness oftherobust H2approach,in comparison withusingclassical regulator PID,showing stable system responses almost insensitive to large parametervariations.Thisrobustcontrol possessesthe capability to improve its performance over time by interactionwithitsenvironment.The resultsprovedalso thatgoodperformanceand morerobustnessinfaceof uncertainties(testofrobustness) withthelinearrobustH2controller(optimalLQGcontroller with KalmanFilter) in comparison withusingtheclassical regulator PID.Our present study was performed using a GUI realized under MATLAB in our work.
