English Abstract

The construction projects are very complex and overlapping process.

Its control and administration are not an easy tasks.

The use of Information and Communication Techniques in Construction Projects Management started many decades ago and a lot of researches were conducted for achieving this ICT role.

In recent years, the Information and Communications Technology (ICT), has become an important and effective tool in the engineering projects management (due to the availability and ease of use) in the most advanced countries, while the Levant region countries in general and Jordan in particular still lag behind.

The first phase of this research was searching the real causes of this gap and determining the most influencing factors that hinder the use of ICT in the construction projects by conducting questionnaires to selected sample of site engineers and project managers and a number of interviews with some experts in the public and private sectors.

Accordingly, and as the second phase, a new web-based software package is proposed to contribute to alleviate the effect of the factors that hinder the use of ICT in the construction projects.

This software package was built from scratch and is designed using multiple languages and techniques that make it very convenient to be used by the site engineers to follow up their duties as well as project manager to manage the different tasks and documentations perfectly.

This package was adopted for application, by a construction company in the private sector, which carried out many small projects as a case study.

The results of this application test reveals an improvement in the management of these projects by achieving a considerable reduction in projects cost and completion time.
