English Abstract

This study attempts to prove the impact of Information Technology (IT) in Supply Chain Management (SCM).

It includes the applications of Information Technology (IT); in order to attain a higher efficiency, optimizing marketing & financial performance, achieve higher customer satisfaction.

It’s summed up in a special program for Early Warning System "EWS" in the supply chain management to reduce the delay in the chain.

It is an engineering project management study that is about investigating Supply Chain Management (SCM) so a Fuzzy Expert System (FES) is used based on the combination of bow-tie diagrams and fuzzy set theory to design the program that supported the Supply Chain Management (SCM), and then determines the disturbances, which are factored as risks in the in the Supply Chain (SC).

The Fuzzy Expert System (FES) is applied to solve the interrelationships problems among all of its criteria.

The results found that advanced Information Technology (IT) is the sole cause that is leading to a high marketing performance and customer satisfaction.

The methodology include a phased process starting with the analysis of potential disturbances using cause-and-effect diagrams, followed by a bow-tie analysis relating disturbances, causes and consequences, used to derive fuzzy rules applied in the SC risk assessment, and ending with advice on control the consequences of disturbances.

Also to identify the main factors (causes) associated with the loss of Supply Chain Management (SCM).

The research indicated factors affecting on Supply Chain Management (SCM); however, the most of these are: lack of availability of skilled workers, weather conditions, bad supervision, bad labs, inadequate equipment, therefore it is recommended that the project manager should pay attention to those factors in order to avoid any delay.

Keywords: supply chain management, early warning system, expert system, fuzzy expert system, bow-tie diagram, information technology.
